Muscles for
Mental Health

An exercise initiative from Fitness World in support of
HeadsUpGuys, a leading global men's mental health resource
program on a mission to support
men with mental health

You are one workout away from a better mood.

1 in 5 Canadians will experience a mental health crisis or be diagnosed with depression or a mental illness. By age 40, that ratio increases to 1 in 2 Canadians. At Fitness World, we believe in the power of movement and its positive effects on our collective mental health and overall wellbeing. This November, we’re partnering with HeadsUpGuys, a local organization dedicated to providing men with access to mental health resources. A portion of all Fitness World gym enrollment fees this month will be donated to HeadsUpGuys’ initiatives to support men’s mental health and wellbeing, plus more ways to get involved will be happening in-club all month long!

Fitness World🤝Mental Health

Movement and exercise play a huge role in our overall physical and mental health. Countless scientific studies have shown the direct benefits of regular exercise on our mental health. Here’s the facts:

150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week reduces risk of depression by 22%

Social connection & support can reduce risk of depression by 63%

Exercise is recommended by experts as a crucial element in the management of depression, anxiety, and distress.

A portion of all Fitness World gym enrollment fees this month will be donated to local organization, HeadsUpGuys

All About HeadsUpGuys

HeadsUpGuys is an online, anonymous resource specifically designed for men, and their families, to prevent the continued erosion of men’s mental health and deaths by suicide. Their website offers tips and articles that arm men with the tools they need to fight depression, as well as recovery stories from men who have faced depression, and an international therapist directory to connect men with local mental health professionals.
