Our Morning Margarita is a Wellness Game-Changer
You don’t have to be a health guru to know that lemon water took off as the go-to wellness drink this past couple of years. This simple concoction went viral and had people of all fitness levels excited about improving their health without putting in a whole lot of effort.
So, what if we told you that there’s something even better than lemon water, that you can whip up just as easily?
Enter salt and lime water or, as we call it, a healthy Morning Margarita.
More than just a fad created by lifestyle magazines, this saltwater flush has undeniable benefits that experts swear by. Read on to discover what science has to say about this wellness tip and how to follow it safely.
3-Ingredient Salt Water Flush
For this “recipe,” you’ll need warm water, lime, and pink Himalayan sea salt. You can also swap the lime for lemon or the salt for any other non-iodized type. If possible, use filtered water as it is residue-free and tastes better, and avoid using table salt. The latter gained its whiteness through bleaching, so it’s left with fewer minerals than natural sea salt, which is richer in potassium and magnesium and has fewer contaminants.
Now that you’re ready with the ingredients, let’s do some measuring. You’ll need:
- A glass of filtered water (200-250 ml)
- The juice of one fresh lime or lemon
- ¼ teaspoon of unrefined sea salt
Mix it well and enjoy! Use your favourite Margarita glass to add even more flair to your enviable morning routine. Ideally, you’ll want to drink this on an empty stomach, as soon as you wake up, so you can prime your body for energy and alertness.
Next, let’s take a look at the three main types of changes you can expect to see thanks to your Morning Margarita
1. Muscle cramps, be gone!
Many of us fall short on our recommended daily water intake and rely on tea, coffee, and sports drinks. These are not necessarily the best beverages for a healthy start to your morning. Your body uses salt and minerals during sleep, and the Morning Margarita will immediately replenish those resources and prevent dehydration symptoms such as cramps and fatigue. It’s the same principle that runners follow when drinking salt water before a marathon.
2. Rock-Solid Immunity
It’s no secret that lime and lemon are packed with vitamin C and antioxidants that help ward off colds and viruses, and kick-start detoxification. Few people know that vitamin C increases the levels of glutathione, a natural antioxidant directly linked with benefits such as greater cardiovascular health, reduced risk of neurodegenerative conditions, improved insulin resistance, and graceful aging.
3. Easy Digestion and more Vitality
The combination of salt and lime juice will boost your stomach acid levels, making it easier to break down food and absorb nutrients. Better digestion means extra pounds will come off easier and you’ll find yourself having more energy than before. What easy morning drink could do better?
